The Hightown Crows, described by Blues Matters magazine as “top quality entertainment”, are a rockabilly blues band who play “seriously boppin'' blues” (Time Out magazine). Their infectious raw and original sound comes from, guitar - Hinton Admiral, double bass - Choppy Lansdowne and a suitcase drum kit - Emery Down. They write and perform all their own songs, and have released five well-selling cds. They perform gigs and events of all kinds at home in Dorset, London, across the country and Europe, playing bars, music venues, open-air festivals, weddings, private parties and PR events. They are regulars at Glastonbury Festival, and have played at the Alta Soul and Blues Festival in Norway for two consecutive years; in Holland, including performing on board the artboat, Stubnitz in the Port of Amsterdam, and in Germany, including White Trash in Berlin.
Music Journalist Tim Heywood said that “to enjoy the Crows doesn’t depend on a love of rockabilly. It depends on a love of rhythm, of driving blues, of a rockin’ band in full swing”.
