High energy, unhinged, and musically extravagant, taking traditional acoustic idioms and delivering with punk abandonment and virtuosic flare. A dynamic three piece offering a unique sound emerging from Celtic, Gypsy Swing, Roma and Flamenco and tuned in savvy. Glasgow power-trio the John Langan Band have travelled a long way since winning a Danny Kyle Open Stage Award at Celtic Connections 2008 – not least musically, with their brilliantly tempestuous sound encompassing “a veritable United Nations of musical influences” - (Folk Radio UK), including Celtic, Balkan, Gypsy and flamenco elements, fuelled by visceral punk spirit. With a deceptively stripped down line-up of vocals, guitar, fiddle, bass and percussion, they released their debut album, Bones of Contention, to ecstatic reviews in 2013, following up two years later with the double disc I’m Alive/Live at the Globe.
